The scheme was launched in 2003 and was primarily based at the University of East London. However, the scheme is now open to other institutions and we welcome the opportunity to expand career development prospects for undergraduates across the UK. Undergraduate students with a disability or dyslexia are linked with executives and professionals to gain support and experience. It is a one-to-one relationship where graduates improve their personal and professional skills whilst mentors gain personal development, access to professional networks and a sense of fulfilment. Mentoring relationships last for six months.
Monthly mentor/mentee meetings are held at the mentor’s workplace of another pre-arranged venue.
People with a disability are as talented and as capable as anyone else but are under-represented in the workplace. We want to work together to change that and encourage students to make the most of their abilities.
A certificate is awarded to all participants on successful completion of the scheme.
