National Mentoring Consortium

Award Ceremony

The NMC award ceremonies reflect the commitment and dedication that leading organisations have shown through mentoring partnerships and highlights the hard work that mentors, mentees and university representatives have achieved.

Organisations are increasingly recognising the business case for an effective, diverse workforce and attracting talent from diverse groups.  The continual success of our mentoring schemes illustrates the wealth of ability that exists amongst disabled and ethnic minority undergraduates who take up the mentoring opportunities.

Force mentoring wins top award

City of London Police has been named 'Mentoring Organisation of the Year' by the National Mentoring Consortium (NMC) for the support it has given to disabled and visible minority undergraduates.

The NMC runs a range of schemes aimed at encouraging ethnic minority and disabled and dyslexic students to take up careers in government, law and business.

Det Insp Peter Ratcliffe has been a pioneer of the force's involvement with mentoring students over the past four years.

"Winning an important national award such as this is a real feather in the force's cap, " he says. " It is recognition for the hard work of our force mentors and the Diversity team over the past year"
